“Be kind and courageous”

These past few weeks have been quite hectic for us (although it is true that most weeks are).

As you’ll see through this article, the formation of a new collection is a process that necessitates a lot of time and a lot of patience.

At Ivoy, just like at any fashion house, we take our time when it comes to our work. We are not at all a part of the “fast-fashion market”, which continuously and rapidly produces new trends.

On the contrary, the creation of each of our dresses can only happen through a series of many intricate steps: from the initial design and choice of fabric to the quest for the perfect accessories, then the first prototypes and eventually the shooting of the final product.

If only you could see and share in our excitement when we do finalize new designs: it’s like Christmas Day for us!

To help you share in a bit of our joy, I want to tell you about the production of Elisabeth’s most recent creation : the breathtaking Cinderella.

It all began when Disney announced they were making a new Cinderella movie. We watched the trailer and saw how absolutely exquisite Cinderella’s ball gown was. Elisabeth immediately began to envision a dress that encompassed the key facets of Ivoy: elegance, volume, and of course, dreams.

And by the way, if you’re looking for a good girls night activity or something to do with young children, I highly recommend you see the new Cinderella movie as it is truly delightful.

Over the next few weeks, Elisabeth set out on a quest to find the perfect materials : taffetas, silks, organza, sequined fabrics, you name it. But none of these seemed exactly right until we met with one of our Korean suppliers.

He showed us an extraordinary fabric: a silk organza encrusted with little crystals. We had never seen anything quite so splendid!

We ordered it without a second thought, but we had to wait two very long months for the fabric to finally arrive at our workshop.

Having found the main fabric for the dress, we then began our search for the rest of the materials, discovering Italian tulle with eye-popping sparkles and a matching lining made of French bemberg.

We envisioned little butterflies decorating the corsage, but after searching through countless exhibition aisles and numerous haberdashery departments, nothing quite matched the quality and aesthetic we wanted.

But just as the Fairy Godmother said to Cinderella, you must never give up! Our wish was granted when a Brazilian supplier brought us an alternative that was even more beautiful: dainty little satin bows. After we added those to the assortment of materials we had amassed from all around the world, the dress could finally materialize!

For me, this really represents the spirit of Ivoy. We don’t just sell dresses: we create fairy tales. Each dress tells us a unique and magical story that we want to pass along to all of you.

We think through and take pride in every precise detail of our dresses. Every time a little girl slips on this dress, we want her to feel as if she has entered a new, dream-like world.

See you soon,

Lucile

PS : Cinderella is already waiting for you at our show room, and will soon be available on our e-shop!
