Creating dresses for each new collection is a long and particular process.
I have always been fascinated by the imagination and originality of artists and designers when it comes to new collections.
So imagine my joy in being able to witness the creation of our new collection: I couldn’t wait to find out how an Ivoy dress is born.
I know I have always dreamed of seeing what goes on behind-the-scenes, so I’m here to give you guys a glimpse as well.
With the hustle and bustle of Christmas festivities behind us, Elisabeth began to prepare the new collection.
She starts by diving into countless inspiring sources in order to feed her creativity: books on unique costumes from our time, numerous haute-couture houses, encyclopedias of historical outfits, fashion magazines, decoration magazines, celebrity magazines, anything she can find!

Next, she heads out to scour for fabrics. At the Saint Pierre market in Sentier, she passes through piles and piles of samples, carefully selected by suppliers from all over the world – she won’t leave without finding the most valuable materials and the most perfect colours.
Since we are professionals in the business, we get privileged access to Alibaba’s cavern of fabrics : the Première Vision exhibition.
In the giant cave at the Villepinte exhibition grounds, thousands of fabric manufacturers gather: reminds me of paradise!

During the next few hours, we surveyed every little alley in order to find and bring you the greatest treasures. And trust me, you won’t be disappointed! We found all sorts of precious fabrics, adorned with a thousand diamonds, sparkling glitter, incredibly silky silk, flowery cotton, colourful and light organza…
Only the absolute best to adorn your beautiful princesses!

These exhibitions are also a great opportunity to see the styles that will be trending next season.
At Ivoy, we really value the history and elegance of our collections, but we of course still want our little princesses to be fashionable and up to date with current trends!
I’ll give the inside scoop for next summer – it’s going to be all about light colours! So consider putting away the reds and yellows to make room for refined, lovely blues and a soft coral that can flatter any skin tone.

Armed with all these ideas and new fabrics, Elisabeth brings it all together on her inspiration boards in order to better and more precisely define the spirit of her next designs.

Finally, Elisabeth locks herself away in her workshop to create the prototypes that we’ll present to our business and individual clients. Once we hear their thoughts, we can finally give life to the new dresses of our 2015 collection.
You’ve already gotten a glimpse of one of our ball gowns, made of gold and white Jacquard… but soon enough, the rest of our designs will arrive as well: the young Archduchess Antoinette, a flower fairy with medieval style, a bewitching sorceress, the perfect debutant ball gown and a radiant Cinderella…
We can’t wait to share our new collection with you.
